I am having a tough time agreeing GB is cost prohibitive. I mean we are just talking about NJ sellers, right? So we are talking about a 6% fee as being excessive? Shipping is the same wherever you go. Other states may make intra-state sales easier but that’s not GB. Doesn’t the buyer pay for the shipping too?
If you don’t want to deal with the whole GunBroker thing yourself, Tanners out in PA will do a 1¢ starting auction for you for an 18% commission. You give up a little in the sale with fees but they take care of everything. I’ve not done it before but a friend has done it several times and has been happy with the process
Just list on various forums like FAL files or Gunboards. It’s free.
If your FFL is using UPS or FedEx to ship out handguns, they must ship overnight. Only allowing shipping of handguns using overnight has been the policy of those carriers for a long time. UPS and FedEx will allow some of the large gun distributors to ship handguns second day air since they ship a full tractor trailer worth of packages everyday, but anyone else must ship handguns overnight.
For this reason I primarily use USPS priority mail to ship out handguns. USPS insurance can sometimes more than double the shipping cost, but it’s still nowhere near UPS or FedEx.
SMG allows you to ship pistols UPS second day. They are an FFL. I guess UPS is a case by case basis. FedEx doesn’t require FFL’S to ship overnight only.
And NJ FFL’s will tell you they can’t ship via USPS, which again is bullshit.
NJ FFL’s are not helping our cause, at all. They are part of the problem.
How many NJ gun stores have you walked into that tell you need an FID to look at guns when there is no such legal requirement? Part-of-the-problem.
I ship out with USPS all the time.
Either they don’t know or their local PO gives them a hard time. Or they really don;t want to be bothered shipping stuff out and throw out big numbers to scare people off.
