We have a place in south Florida and are down here for 10 days. While we are here, I took the opportunity to renew my Florida CCW license. I had heard that the process here is simple and streamlined, so I went down to my local tax collectors office, 20 minutes away, and was in and out with my renewal in under a half hour. They took care of the paperwork, photos, and fingerprinting in that time. The fee was $99 for the next seven years. Compare that to the laborious and expensive process in New Jersey. Damn, our state sucks!
Same here. I’ll never buy another firearm in NJ that’s for sure. Easy peasy in FL with no permit fees when you have a FL CCW and a FL residence. Can’t wait to get back down
I thought FL was constitutional carry?
Nevermind
If you have a CCW in FL you have less restrictions from what I understand, and no waiting period, so you’re in and out with your firearm in an hour and a half or less. plus it gets me more states to carry ![]()
You are absolutely correct.
NJ_SIG explained why it’s still good to have a CCW permit.
That’s what I started to type too, then did a quick search, and it only pertains to Florida residents. Out of state residents either need a Florida nonresident CCW, or a reciprocity agreement with their home state CCW.
Anyone with a NJ firearms hunting license can get a FL non-resident CCW, literally, by mail. They consider that firearms safety training. Takes about two weeks.
Got my FL permit just before Bruen dropped. It took about two months, only because the first set of fingerprints were rejected and had to be redone. I used my Hunter’s Ed cert and my NRA basic pistol (only needed one or the other). Obviously, I got my NJ permit early (when they were still issued by the court), and my PA non-res soon after. I love Florida too, and PA.
I have a PA CCW too. Not having to lock your firearm in your vehicle safe, or having to leave it home when going to a restaurant in FL or PA is a thing of beauty
I have a home in SW Florida too. We’re leaving in two weeks to spend the winter. I renewed my CWFL last year. Florida really has it right. In and out fast. 3 more years and I hope to be a full time resident there. The way things are going in New York and now here with the election in NJ too we maybe moving up our timetable for an exit.
Not to mention being able to remove the holster with gun intact, and not having to constantly unload and reload.
