Glock Discontinuing Many Models?

Everything I’m seeing shows they’ll be bringing back certain models in a slightly tweaked configuration to prevent compatibility with switches.

Guessing it’s based on lawsuits from CA as well as other states. But since they’re new models I’m guessing they won’t be grandfathered into CA’s safe handgun roster. Hoping this leads to countersuits against California for penalizing a manufacturer for complying with requirements for safety imposed by a state.

I’m sure we’ll know more soon. All the rumors are only a couple hours old right now.

Why is GLOCK discontinuing so many models?

In order to focus on the products that will drive future innovation and growth, we are making a strategic decision to reduce our current commercial portfolio. This streamlined approach allows us to concentrate on continuing to deliver the highest-quality and most relevant solutions for the market.

What does this mean for me as a customer?

You’ll still have access to the most popular GLOCK models you know and love—just with a more focused selection.

Will discontinued models still be supported?

Yes! Just like we do with previous generations. We will continue to service discontinued models.

Do these portfolio changes affect law enforcement agencies?

GLOCK remains fully committed to supporting the varying needs of our law enforcement partners. While IOP programs may be affected, GLOCK is prepared to work closely with LE partners to make sure officer and agency needs are met. For more questions, contact your LE District Manager.

This is a different discontinuation notice than the rumors that sparked this.

Glock is discontinuing current Gen3 and Gen5 models to replace with a V model that has changes to the trigger function, theoretically to be less compatible with switches.

I would like to see the 2A community compile a list of arrests from across the country and the actual convictions of CRIMINALS who were in possession of a glock with a switch. I’ll bet it will be a very telling list especially from the navy blue states.

I mean the good news is that CA’s roster shenanigans was spanked in 23. The microstamping and remove two for every one thing are effectively gone. New glocks will need a visible LCI though instead of just the tactile one.

Congrats to all the non-OEM glock compatible slide manufacturers who are about to see an increase in business.

If anyone thinks the anti gunners would ever stop at Glock, they’re out of their mind. Now that Glock is tweaking the design, they’re trying to force the hands of all the clone manufacturers.
