A Glock 45 is a 9mm -
Assuming you mean a Glock in .45ACP, they don’t really make a mid sized one.
The Glock 21 is full sized/ The Glock 21SF is supposed to be “small frame” but really means “still fat.” The grip on those is chunky to say the least.
The Glock 30 is the same circumference on the grip, just shorter so your pinky has nowhere to sit.
The Glock 36 is single stack so the grip is much less chunky, but being narrower make the felt recoil much worse as it is concentrated on a smaller area of your hand.
The Glock 41 is the same as the 21, but with a long slide.
I have larger hands than many, and I find them too chonky to hold onto well.
Thanks but i know it’s 9mm… I’m suffering on the form factor… any better or worse than the g19/g17
Ah - I mistook the question.
The G45 is essentially a G19 slide with a G17 length grip. It was created to satisfy LEO requests for a shorter gun that could be worn more comfortably in a duty holster while seated in a patrol car while maintaining G17 capacity.
For people who don’t open carry and ride in a car all the time, I don’t see any advantage.
What is your use case for the gun? Carrying? Range toy? Competition?
Thanks, noted…no real use case…someone offered me one for cost NIB…misorder.
I dont see it really doing anything for me…just more curiosity. G26 works for conceal and or one of the BHP’s
Tnx for the input !
The combination that would interest me would be to take the slide and barrel off a G47 and put it on a G19 frame. It would be the reverse of the G45 and more in line with CCW needs.
Not that I’m going to do that - I’m a CZ fanboy now.
Glocks remind me of Volvos. They run well, they are boxy and they all look alike! I love Sig!
The Glock 19 is my favorite Glock. IMO the G45 was an answer to a problem that wasn’t needed. A G17 factory mag with a spacer will turn a G19 into a G45. As much as I like all my Glocks I really don’t shoot them as much since I bought an HK VP9sk. The VP9sk IMO is the most comfortable gun to shoot. It feels like it was custom made for my hand. I can shoot it all day. I like it so much I bought another one in a different color. Its smaller than the Glock19 and larger than the Glock 26.
I believe the G19 is the perfect Glock for ccw. The g45 is a great piece but I really prefer the 19 frame size.
I have a few Glocks…19 and 34’s. I have medium sized hands and I find the 19 frame just a bit short. It’s great for concealed carry but I prefer the full frame size when shooting at the range. For me the G45 is a good compromise for concealability and shooting ergonomics. I might add one to my collection.
I am not a fan of the long grip & short barrel.
I just so happen to have a G45 in stock if anyone is interested…???
We have a G45 and a G19 in our household (the 19 belongs to the Mrs). The G45 is my work gun and is equipped with a Trijicon RMR and a streamlight TLR 7A. It’s a great tool, very accurate (thanks Trijicon) and as reliable as you’d expect, given the name stamped on the slide. If can open or OWB carry it, it’s a good choice. In my opinion, it’s too big to be IWB concealed. At least comfortably and all-day. As a bedside or range gun, fantastic. We can purchase ours on retirement and I fully intent to.
PS: It’s my first post but I found my way back here after the crash of 24. Good to be back.
Welcome @Corsair!
Welcome back! I still think Glocks are ugly!
Glock 45 with a tlr 7A is my work gun. I would much prefer my 226 in 40 to carry for work, the Glock 45 is nice to carry, shoots great and sitting in a car seat is much more comfortable compared to my old duty gun, a Glock 21 with a x300.
