Apparently it’s in case the music is up too loud/wind noise or whatever they can still know what you’re saying.
It is for when the car’s “alexa” cannot hear you talk about stuff you are potentially about to buy. First your phones, then Alexa, now in your car (the most sacred space) is ready to narc on you. Music blaring, you silently mouth, generators generators generators, and when u get home your web browser is trying to sell you generators, all the sudden, targeted TV ads about generators show up.
they’re ALL gonna have inward facing cameras, interior mics, and other measures to monitor you as you drive. it’s already federal law. signed in 2021. it’s buried in the infrastructure bill

I’ll take anything made before 1984. Ironically, 1984 is the year EPA mandated emissions control computers became commonplace. Anything before 84 is EMP proof and does not collect or transmit data.
remember the first news story like 30 years ago when someone who caused a fatal accident got busted lying because the computer data didn’t match his story. t was the first time Americans found out that their cars were collecting data that could be used against them. Back then they assured everyone of privacy rights and that cars only stored like 2 or three minutes of data. Since then we now have cars that constantly record everything going on with it.
i believe fords eec4 was one of the first to do that. most people thought that gm’s computers were superior to the eec4….and they were wrong. eec4 was faster, and more reliable than gm’s computers which still used prom chips.they hated eec4 because they couldn’t get datastream during diagnostics. you actually hadda work to diag a ford. the first step in most diagnostics on a gm was to check the prom for possible updates.
