My wife and I will going to a restaurant on Saturday that we have not been to for a very long time: the Hibatchi Grill, located in Festival at Hamilton mall across the Black Horse Pike from Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing. We are going in the car of a friend who does not carry, and has no locking handgun storage in his vehicle. Does anyone here know whether or not there are “no carry” signs posted at Festival, or have direct knowledge that carry is officially unwelcome there? I did confirm with the restaurant that they do not serve alcohol. Thanks.
Ive been in a few stores in that plaza and have not seen any NG signs. Least that can happen is you’ll be asked to leave if someone happens to see your 10” revolver butt poking through your shirt.
If your that concerned volunteer to drive or just take your car.![]()
Concealed is concealed.
If you are worried about concealed carry then dont.. Worst they can do is ask you to leave….
I thought that No Gun signs in NJ had the force of law behind them (unlike in Florida, where they are just a request). Can anyone clarify?
My understanding (Corrections welcome!) :
The presence of a sign/decal saying “no guns allowed”, whether issued by the state of NJ or not, does not add any force of law other than being a reason for charging you with trespassing if you are discovered to be carrying a firearm.
Stated another way - if the location is otherwise legal to carry in and not a “sensitive place” as identified in 2C:58-4.6 (and not currently enjoined by ongoing litigation) then carrying there should not result in any illegal carry/firearms possession charges regardless if there is a “no guns” sign or not.
You didn’t tell us how your night went.
. Private property and restricted areas designated by the state are different as far as the law goes. From what I’ve read the establishment would probably ask you to leave. If they call an LEO then they could possibly file trespassing charges or a ban from that establishment. I’m sure someone with more knowledge on private property law will jump in.
Here is a link I found outlining prohibited places
