Driving Simulator/Gaming Discussion

Just starting to “seriously” get into driving sims.

Right now I’m only playing on an Xbox Series X, mainly playing Forza and Wreckfest although I’ve got several other driving games loaded (more “hardcore” racing and dirt rally games) and awaiting the elusive “more time”.

Started with Logitech G923 force feedback wheel/pedals/shifter and a stand to try it out initially for gaming w/friends and realized I liked it enough to get more into it.

Recently purchased a Moza R3 setup (wheel and pedals only) as an upgrade to the xbox driving hardware, but if I buy another non-xbox-specific wheel the Moza should work with PC games also.

I am interested in learning about what PC games are “good” for driving sims as I’m now 85% “sunk cost” in hardware that should work with PC’s also.

Also bought a “GTPlayer” seat/stand combo - the “no-seat” stand I had before worked pretty well, but wasn’t super comfortable in combination with my couch seat. The GTPlayer stand is on casters so I can roll it out of the way to clear the TV area.

Moza R3 wheel and GTPlayer seat/stand I’m currently setting up:

Try the southbound Parkway going to any shore point on a summer Friday night. Ha, ha, ha!

Been there done that sooooo many times.

Anyone out there using a Meta Quest (2 or 3) VR headset along with a PC racing game?

If you want to get into sim racing - look at Asseto Corsa.

Got it on Xbox, will look at it for PC

With F1 starting soon, how are you guys going to watch it?

With apple buying the rights to F1 are there any other options, other then giving them a yearly subscription.

I currently have YouTube TV.

My understanding is no… it’s AppleTV or nothing. But I’m coming from F1TV without cable, so I’m actually saving a few bucks a month.

But I’m looking forward to this upcoming season… will certainly be interesting with the new rules.

I hope we’re not going the the road where these large companies start buying the rights and we end up buying all just to watch sports. It’s already slowly starting, Amazon and Netflix with football, now Apple either F1.

I do vrsim racing using my meta quest3. Ive been doing vrsim since like 2018 with the original Rift. I cannot do 2d Sim anymore :smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear:

Thanks - any particular recommended games?

iRacing is still one of the top vrsim but pricey. I still play assetto corsa because you can still mod the games with cars and tracks, hell they have njmp lightning track which i have done track days on, though i wished they had thunderbolt also. But for pure racing fun i love racing in automobilista 2 and ACC if i want gt3 action
