$6,000+ - More Range Days/alternate locations/provide targets/more fun!
Thank you for being a part of our community and for believing in our vision. Together, we can achieve great things!
I recently created these channels after creating this site and by no means am I any kind of social media person. I apologize in advance for the lack of and quality or content. I’m just learning video editing so hope to make better meetup videos when the weather warms and perhaps informational ones about where to shoot in NJ.
If you have any video\content ideas please reach out.
Tried subscribing but after choosing a membership level, the system won’t allow me to submit a payment without selecting a subscription plan. It gives me an error stating “Select subscription plan”
I’m not a fan of reoccurring subscriptions/payments. This comment from the site you linked concerns me as well.
If you were to shut down your instance of Discourse, uninstall this plugin or your site were to go offline, Stripe will continue to bill your customers for your service until the subscription is cancelled.
I’d rather do a one time payment via PayPal or similar. Have you considered that?
That statement is a warning that if I were to shutdown Discourse I would have to cancel the subscriptions in Stripe manually. I do not plan on shutting down. You can also dispute charges on a credit card if the site were to go down.
If for some reason I could no longer continue this site that would be for funding reasons and everyone would be notified of an end date in advance so there would be no surprises. Any subscriptions would be cancelled before the site was shutdown so this should not be a concern.
Other users had concerns about PayPal (some are still being charged?) so unfortunately I can’t please everyone.
Let me see about adding a one-time payment option.
So the problem with a one-time payment is there is no automatic mechanism to remove you as a supporter if you do not support the following year. The recurring subscription handles that if you were to cancel or payment fails you are removed from the supporter group.
I setup a one-time payment option. Includes Trust Level 2 if not already attained but there is no flair association with this payment option. Also can be repurchase as often as you like.
People were being charged because they did not know they needed to go into their PP account to disable the subscription and the owner of the former site did not (or was unable to) do anything on his side.
My concern is less with you intentionally doing something, vs something unintentionally happening. I found a workaround which alleviates my concerns and have subscribed.
Thank you, for your work creating and maintaining this site! As well as for being transparent & receptive!
I will check into this further. Stripe might allow PP as a payment method I might just need to configure that. I can’t find a plugin on its own for PP in Discourse by itself.
We are just a couple weeks into the new year and things are looking good We may not reach the second goal as quickly as I hoped but at a minimum I will be able to maintain this site on Discourse through 2026 even if needing to upgrade services.
