Clinton Clay Shoot Sunday March 9th

Yee Haw!!! The shoot is on. Sunday, March 9th 0900.

CLINTON WMA CLAY SHOOT

Howdy folks. It’s about time we get together again to turn some money into noise. Come join us at the Clinton WMA shotgun range for a morning of clay busting fun.

200-3531422351

WHO: You, family, friends.
WHERE: Clinton WMA trap range
WHEN:Sunday March 9th 2025
TIME: 0900 (we will be setting up at 0830)

If you will be joining, please let us know how many will attend and what you are bringing so we can plan for supplies.

Shooting commences at 0900 and keeps going until we get bored, run out of ammo, or hear mom calling us home. Shoots usually go until about 1300, leaving plenty of time for everyone to stop in at any time and join the party.

As always, these meet-ups are informal gatherings, just plain old fun to promote shooting sports and encourage training, please feel free to bring friends and family.

Shooters of all experience levels are welcome, if you have never shot clays, or want some tips on improving your skills, this is your chance to dust off that shotgun you bought years ago and gain some needed experience.

What you will need.

Bring your shotgun(s), as much #7.5 or #8 lead target/field loads as you want to shoot, and depending on how much you want to shoot, a carton of clay pigeons would be great. Don’t forget eyes and ears. Also recommended is a chair, sun screen, insect repellent, and something to drink.

If you don’t have a shotgun and just want to see what clay shoot’n is all about, a loaner pump action will be available.

Basic Checklist

  • Shotgun
  • Ammo
  • Eye and ear protection (mandatory)
  • Clay targets (optional but recommended for volume shooters)
  • Shell pouch (optional)
  • Folding chair (optional)
  • Water
** If you have a valid hunting license, please bring it.

I’m in, bringing my friend Jimmy again

I’m in too. I have a 2024, I don’t think it helps but I’ll bring it since you asked so nicely… I got my 2025 so I’ll bring that just in case

I’ll be there so long as the date falls on a Sunday when I’m not otherwise engaged.

4th Sunday of each month I run an IDPA match.

I’m always there weekly with my friends and setup 2 machines I’m usually on a white Camry. I always talked to everyone there :joy::joy::joy: I will try to join when the date is set. I still go there as long as the weather is 38 and up. Say Hi if you happen to see me:+1:t3:

Welcome to the forum, glad you found our little clubhouse of motley fools. Each year we do several meetups at Clinton, usually around four. I’d be surprised if we hadn’t crossed paths over the ten plus years we’ve been doing these shoots.

I’m usually there around 0830, in a white Silverado with old glory flying off the back.

I’m usually there weekdays Tuesday or Wednesday are you the one with the thrower on a trailer? I’ve been in the old forum but just started trap last year.:+1:t3: hope to see you guys there I Will donate couple boxes of clay hopefully the weekend will be my weekend off!:+1:t3:

My thrower is mounted on a monster garden cart. We always appreciate clay targets. They are harder and harder to get, at lest near me. I used to get them from Saloman’s in Farmingdale, but since Gene passed, his son took over and is now charging ridiculous prices.

I want to stock up on some cases of clay birds. Who else in NJ sells them besides Saloman’s?

I think I might’ve seen you there! Yes clay are harder to get so I always stock up whenever it’s available👍🏼

I 100% agree with this - no desire to freeze my arse off and it’s hard to shoot when you’re dressed like the little brother in Christmas Story

Last I looked Sayerville Sportsman had a good amount.

Do you know what they are getting for a case

No, I don’t remember. I didn’t buy one so it, at best, was a fair price.
If it were cheap I’d have bought a case or two just to stock up

The Clinton Walmart usually has them in stock. $9.98 for a box of 90.

So I can “calibrate”, what’s a “fair” price currently for a case of clays ($ for quantity?)

I

Is a very good price !!

Temps are all over the place, but they are trending up, so we should have a date pretty soon. If we are lucky, we will have a date in early to mid March.

OOOhhhhh So close.

The weather was looking good for a shoot this Sunday, but a cold snap with a 30 degree drop is expected.

March 9th is looking good. The extended forecast indicates moderate temps and partly cloudy, so, as long as it isn’t raining, I think we have a winner.

Based on your previous date picking history - Start tying stuff in the yard down now !
If it’s nice I’m there with my friend Jimmy (who was also at the last one - with the brownies)
