CCW renewal

My CCW permit renews the middle of February, I’ve been told to start the online app process a number of months in advance even though I would lose time on my new expiration date. I guess it is taking a fairly long time to get the renewal, and if you delay starting the process, you could end up not being able to carry for a good period of time.

Anyone have any insight on the renewal?

Just about to start my renewal as well. Can’t offer anything more than what’s on the NJSP site:

https://www.njportal.com/NJSP/ConcealedCarry/

What will I need to submit a renewal Concealed Carry Permit application?

SBI Number, Last Name and Date of Birth for validation
One (1) training record completed within past two (2) years, instructor name, and qualification date
Any updates to Personal Information
Upload of recent photograph (on a light background including head and shoulders)
Background Information
Any updates to Handgun Information
$200 Application Fee

Additionally it’s a good idea to get all your reference info “ready to go” - Names, addresses, phone #'s and email addresses, and give them all a heads up when you’re ready to submit and tell them to watch their email.

Welcome exit30!

I suppose it depends on the town or if you need to go through the State Police and what the turn around has been like. It’s a catch-22 for sure, renew earlier and not realize the full ‘value’ on the first permit losing however many days or months. Renew too late and risk being without a valid carry permit for some period of time.

As I understand the window is 4 months meaning you can’t submit a renewal any sooner than 4 months from permit expiration (I’m guessing here.) But if they process that in 2 weeks you lose 3 months on the 1st permit and the 2 year clock starts the day your new permit is issued.

Personally I’m looking to do it around 2 months out. My permit expires mid-February so looking to do it mid-December or possibly just after the 1st of the year/holidays.

For the money we have to pay for these permits now, I am applying for my renewal in the month it expires. If i dont have it in the 30 day window the shit will hit the fan. I am lucky in that it looks like Rutherford gets them done in 7 days…

check out njnics . com there you can look up your town and their average renewal timeline

They now have 90 days by statute thanks to our wonderful legislature.

Im in hopewell. Funny enough. I just commented on this last night. And sure enough. Just got the email this morning. New ltc permit is ready. 11-11-24 sent. 12-23-24 ready. The 200$ hurts this time. And is unconstitutional. Im sure things will change. Btw. Chittiarelli is against civilians for concealed carry.

The State, has once again figured out how to screw you out of money! First, the fees are outrageous to "allow’ your constitutional rights!
But to add a cherry on top of the Trenton Dumpster fire, they date your new license ahead of your current expiration date, stealing what you already paid for by x amount of days!
F’ Murphy!

Holy crap, I had no idea that they do this! That is truly an outrage. I just assumed that the renewal started when the original permit expired, like a DL or a motor vehicle registration.

Jack is a RINO at best and will not have my vote come primary time.

Ditto, unfortunately, I can’t vote against him in the primary since I’m “unafflilated”. I might consider voting in the republican primary and then switch back to unaffiliated, since there’s not many real republicans in NJ (or the country for that matter).

Nope. Some jurisdictions are kind enough to date it the day of expiration. Most dont. From what ive seen n
