Can anyone recommend an HONEST transmission place in central NJ?

I was savagely screwed over once many years ago (I was young and stupid, OK, more stupid) and they saw me coming. Now I’m a bit skittish about this and am looking for a place that’s run by someone who’s not a crooked POS.

2019 Ford Transit Connect XL, 65K miles, same problem everyone with this transmission is having (Eff you Ford for not recalling this !!)
Needs converter and first and second gear work.
Front wheel drive which sucks - Otherwise I’d drop in a new one myself

We got anyone ?

know of only one place, Von Kattingil Trans in Eatontown. They are not cheap but their work is excellent.

Don’t have any direct recommendations, but talk to the service manager of a local business that has a fleet of Ford Transits and see where they go for trans service?

I just put a trans in my daughters Cruze, fun time with front wheel drive. Anyway, it isn’t just a simple R & R anymore. After I got it in there, warmed-up so their stupid cooler circuit thermostat would open, I could completely fill it, then tow it to a local dealer to program the damn thing! I’m done with buying any new cars from any of these clowns!

Todays cars are over the top complicated
We just bought a two door Jeep Wrangler to tow behind the RV. 142 separate computers in it, any one of which is well over $1k.
I don’t ever buy extended warranties, I did for this thing.
I’m sure they’ll find a way to screw me if I ever have a problem

I’ve used TAB Transmissions before - they were good, but pricey. They used to be in Iselin (Woodbridge) but moved down to Forked River.

if you’re anywhere near marlton, give john or sean at motortrans a shout. 856-988-3320. tell them john in cherry hill told ya to call. they’ll be straight with ya.

I said Central NJ, I should have been more specific and said Monmouth County

Bridgewater motor works

Sorry for your problem. I’ve never used them personally, put was thinking of having a transmission replaced several years ago and after doing some research, this was the place I was going to go to. It ended up not being worth it to repair the vehicle. It may be too far for you?

Best thing to do is look at google reviews at places you are considering. DirtyDigz idea is a good one if you want some personal recommendations for places in your area. Still look at the google reviews though.

sorry man. i kinda “breezed” the post, and missed the central jersey part

these days, if the vehicle’s less than 10 years old and needs a tranny….even if it’s a $5k replacement….it’s worth it. car prices are crazy right now, both new and used. helll…..even if it’s closer to 15 years old….but when they’re getting that old a tranny rebuild’s gonna cost less too, as there’s less electronics inside, and easier to r&r

I’ve got a soon to retire coworker who owns an AAMCO in Hazlet you’re welcome to try. Haven’t used him myself because he’s just too far from Woodbridge to use for basic repairs. I will tell you though we have those Transits at work and everyone I know that’s worked on them absolutely hates them. I’m almost ready to suggest parking it out front on garbage day and letting them take it LOL.
