Can anyone recommend a local store or forum for Archery?

I’ve been thinking about getting into archery, just target shooting not for hunting. I have no experience other than Cub Scouts (45 years ago) and High School gym class. Mostly interested in longbow, possibly recurve. If anyone can recommend a local site or shop (Ocean County) it would be much appreciated. I went to the guy in Lakewood and the guy was a total dick head. Tried to ask a few questions about bows I’m interested in and all he wanted to do was sell me a compound bow. When I told him I wasn’t interested in a compund bow he lit up a cigarette and ignored any other questions I asked. Can’t believe that jerk off is still in business.

Cheyenne Mt Outfiters has a robust bow business. They also have n indoor archery range. There should be a decent amount of archery shops since NJ is a shotgun and bow only state for deer, but CMO is a good place to start.

If your willing to take a long drive, look into Lancaster archery in PA. You can buy from them online but if you want to try out a large selection of bows and get some good advice, you’ll want to drive out there.

aren’t they up near where the sportsmens center used to be? i used to like shooting there……

Dunno. Have not been there since they moved. The new archery range was talked up on the old forum, seemed it was a good place to practice.

Yes but south of the old Sportsmen Center on 130 South in Bordentown, not far south of the crossover with 206. I think the archery range is 2-4 lanes.

Cheyenne Moutain is in Bordentown on Rt 130. I was in there a few months ago when I first started thinking about getting into archery and the guys there were very helpful and knowledgeable. Only complaint is that they’re over an hour from me so it’s tough to get there to “kick tires" and get a better idea of what I would like to get into.

The old Shooters had a large selection of bows and a range but since they moved I don’t think they have any archery items.
