C&R designation

Please explain the process that a C&R designation allows me to purchase without a FFL? If that’s how it works.

The firearm must be 50 yeas old and legal in the state where the license is held. Some NJ FFL’s won’t accept a C&R due to NJ putting restrictions on a federal license. Some PA and NY FFL’s are the same. I’ve had mine 6 years and have had my license accepted and rejected in all 3 states. I only purchased 1 firearm in FL and the FFL there had no problem. In NJ you still need to go through the P2P bullshit for a handgun.

You can purchase C&R firearms but the state doesn’t recognize the ATF 03 C&R license so these weapons still have to be transferred through a NJ FFL and a handgun permit is still required and 1 handgun a month applies.

Thank you. That explains it.
