Broke 2 of the 4 rules. Finger on the trigger and pointing the firearm in an unsafe direction. Sounds like the injured party will be fine eventually. Luckily he was not injured worse or someone else on the firing line was not shot.
I am sure it qualifies as an accidental discharge within 100 ft of any structure. The state will try to put him in jail and take all of his rights away.
happened in the army many times, you learn discipline and you suck up the pain. plain and simple. leftys got it the worse if they didnt have a brass deflector attached.
suck it up and drive on.
