Armed citizen saves woman from dog attack in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — A dog was shot and killed as it attacked a woman on the street during Thanksgiving, according to authorities.

Just after 9 a.m. Nov. 27, police were called to the 200 block of South 9th Street on a report of a dog bite.

According to police, a concerned bystander had pulled a handgun and shot the dog as it was biting the woman.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries, but the dog died, officials added.

Police said the shooter remained in the area following the shooting, and no charges have been filed.

Dang, no more detailed news articles that I can find on this. Gotta know if it was a PTC holder or an “unlicensed” carry that they decided not to charge…

IMO, if the shooter was “unlicensed,” they would have stated so because it fits the narrative. I will be interested to see where this goes, if anywhere at all.

That depends entirely on who the shooter was and what narrative is being spun to suit the needs of the leftist media.

It’s also possible the shooter never left their own property so “carry” never came into the equation.

I suspect that if the shooter did not have a permit to carry (or came running out of a nearby house citing the civilian equivalent of “exigent circumstances”), he/she would have been arrested and the charging decision would have been left to the prosecutor. In either of those circumstances I doubt you will ever find any further updates in the press.

I don’t think would make it past the grand jury even if the prosecutor is as anti-american as the worst prosecutor and were to even entertain charging the person.

Being that it was Newark, wondering if a Pitbull was involved.
