I haven’t purchased a firearm online for a few years, it seems like things have changed for the worse. I ordered a new AR on Bud’s Gun’s, payment was confirmed and they even have the FFL dealer I use, but I get a call today informing me they can’t ship to Jersey. So now we have to buy everything directly from a retail store?
I hope you got a full refund… I’ve purchased plenty of stuff online and out of state, shipped to/transferred at my FFL so I suspect it just this vendor’s policy.
They’re refunding me 100%, I’ve emailed a few other online retailers to see if they will ship to Jersey
Many sellers have started to ship any non compliant firearms to NJ. They don’t understand our crazy laws and want to avoid loosing there FFL. Don’t know that FFL that receives it will make gun legal before background check is done. So things like adjustable stocks, flash hinder and more can stop the sale.
Was it Jersey compliant is my first question, second would be is if it isn’t, is the FFL you’re shipping to do they do compliance work, third is a statement, buy a stripped lower and build your own. It’s a lot less of a headache and you make it how you want.
Also, you’re 4 exits away from me and I have extra parts I’d give away for free lol
Shops like Buds, etc will just drop ship, and blanket won’t ship to NJ for compliance/etc. There are others that will. Mostly larger sites like Buds, PSA, etc.
There are some that WILL Ship to NJ, but may require you to buy an already compliant rifle. Your best bet is to buy a stripped lower (you can get those transferred) and assemble it yourself, unless it’s a higher end gun that you can get customized to be compliant. Some shops will do compliance work for you for a fee.
As others mentioned, it’s up to the website / corporation owner. Many simply dont want to deal with NJ.
I dont think PSA will ship a non-compliant upper or rifle to NJ.
If you see something you are interested in, I would recommend calling them first and inquiring if they will ship the item to NJ.
Or inquire with your local FFL and have them recommend sites that they know will ship to them.
Best of luck.
I originally ordered from Buds Guns and they flat out refused to ship it and are giving me a refund, I contacted other online retailers and they did the same thing siting the following:
- Featureless AR-15: AR-15 rifles that DO NOT have certain “assault weapon” features, such as a folding stock, pistol grip, or bayonet mount, are also ALLOWED in New Jersey.
all AR’s have a pistol grip, I am so thoroughly confused about this entire mess.
Try Atlantic Firearms. They specialize in compliance for sates. Also, JSE Surplus will build NJ compliant ARs on request. They will swap out things like bayo lugs and flash hiders. Also, you could ask your FFL to order the AR for you and have them do the compliance work.
Your two best bets are either visit a NJ gun shop and buy something already compliant, or or build your own lower and buy an upper on-line.
I just spoke with Palmetto State Armory, they won’t ship to Jersey because of the threaded barrel . This has become a total circus
Nope, just got a response from Atlantic Firearms, they won’t ship here either.
What type of AR rifle are you looking for. Build your own its easy.
Just go to a local dealer and have them order it for you. It will cost the same in the end with the NJ nonsense anyway.

A while back I built 4 ARs by using stripped lowers bought through My FFL and buying complete uppers from Bear Creek and having them sent directly to my residence. I recently went on Bear Creeks website to purchase an upper and saw they will no longer send uppers to NJ
Most stores won’t ship complete ARs that are not NJ compliant. That said build your own. If you ship the complete upper all majority of the dealers will ship direct to you in NJ w/o an issue. The uppers are not completed rifles so that’s the workaround everyone’s referring to. Get yerself a few lowers and start building them yerself and you can pretty much order from PSA, Brownells, Primary Arms the complete uppers. They will ship them direct to you and then just pair them with your custom built lowers.
This makes zero sense. Why would they have 17 rifles on their website that are specifically indicated as NJ legal, but will not ship to NJ?
What was it that you tried to order?
