I’ve been distraught this summer of '24 without the NJ Gun forums so I went ahead and setup this domain to replace the void. I did try reaching out to Maksim to see about the status of the original site but never got a response. I’ve only heard rumors as to what happened so your guess is as good as mine.
If you have not guessed by now I have an interest in firearms. My wife and I are members at RTSP and shoot at the Union location. I also have a hunting license and enjoy busting clays at the Clinton WMA.
I never had a FB account. All I ever seemed to need was njgunforums… I tried signing up today and it has me upload a video of myself and is under review. Hopefully I will be able to make an announcement in the next day or so. Thanks for the suggestion and again thanks for joining!
I’ve been praying for the original site to come back online for months refreshing my tab daily only to get that cloudflare host offline message. I’m not one for social media so I was not aware of Facebook groups or the Discord group until I started searching for people discussing the old site.
On 8/28 I sent an email to maksim@gmail.com and then on 8/29 to admin and tech@njgunforums.com asking about the status. Never got any replies so about 2 weeks after I started looking into hosting a forum. Purchased some domains. Then about a week or so ago got a VM, email services and started installing.
Got it up and running about 5 days ago and started building the categories. Once that was all in place I tested signup and then about 2 days ago I found a discussion on Reddit and posted about this site there.
Found the Discord last night. I know about the Facebook Group and I’m working to signup so I can spread the word there as well.
I only have a few plugins installed so if there are any features or changes you suggest please post them in the Site Feedback section.

Glad to see this forum get set up. Yes good to see some familiar faces. I heard the other guys were interested in resurrecting another forum as well. Was wondering what the consensus is. As mentioned on discord it would be great for the user base to unify and get together on one forum. To have multiple forums sort of dilutes the group but that’s my opinion. Perhaps they will coexist?
Anyways thank you Mark for setting this up. Any chances of a buy/sell page? Any member dues in the future? How do you intend to cover the costs for hosting? Your not selling my info hopefully and what about privacy etc? Forgive me for being paranoid but we can thank the state of NJ and it’s 2A stance for that.
Hey My1stGlock! I share your paranoia… Being in IT I take security and privacy seriously and is why I have always had a limited social media footprint. That’s expanding at the moment only to get the word out on what I built. Probably be limited to njgunforums.net or wherever the forum ends up.
I’m the only one with access to the Linux VM (for now I will likely need admins to assist.) I’m not selling anyone’s data or any site data.
I have already covered the cost for the majority infrastructure we need for the first year. IF this site grows to need more resources we would look at subscriptions or donations to pay for it. I think what it was before $1 and $3 per month was fair or we should start a new thread about subscriptions and what access they get.
There is a buy/sell page but didn’t want to open that until we had enough people to look at it. Again I will open a topic under the Site Feedback to see what everyone wants.
