6.5x55 Swede mauser

Anyone on here shooting a original 6.5 not the creedmore

I have a Winchester model 70 in the cal and has become one of my favorite rifles to reload for as well as shoot

My second hunting rifle was a cz550 full stock in 6.5x55. First round I ever reloaded and it was awesome.

I didn’t keep it because once I get a few deer with a hunting rifle I sell them and buy something else.

It is defanatly a neat cartridge

OKay, so this thread caused me to fall down a rabbit hole. A while back, when 6.5CM had just hit the scene, I was looking at European surplus chambered n 6.5 Swede. They were very inexpensive back then, no more than $350. I should have grabbed one.

Anyway, I was trying to recall the rfle and it was a Gustav Mauser. But, while reading about who was using 6.5 Swede, besides the Swedes, I came across this nugget.

Norway: Adopted the cartridge alongside Denmark (which used a different Krag variant in 6.5mm), but Norwegian forces stuck with it longer. Post-WWII, Norway received U.S. aid in the form of M1 Garands rechambered to 6.5×55mm, extending the cartridge’s life into the 1960s.

Somewhere out there, Garands chambered in 6.5 Swede exist. I want one!

It was a caliber I never even thought about to be honest. I have several other old mauser calibers. I saw the rifle on the shelf and fell in love due to its look. I am very impressed with the way it shoots . Did test loads from 160 round nose down to 125 nosler partitions and everything groups way better than expected. The rifle will be my NY opening day rifle unless the weather is bad

Never heard of this.. I know criterion used to have Garand barrels in 6.5x55 but never heard of any country rechambering Garands other than 7.62x51
