Whats do you think about the new 250th Anniversary Revolutionary War Specialty license plates for NJ? Cost is an extra $10 year but it is supposed to fund the New Jersey Historic Trust to protect local Revolutionary War battlegrounds and landmarks.

Personally i support this, however, i am concerned about the proceeds actually being spent properly.

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, working alongside the New Jersey Historic Trust, expects to start issuing the 250th Anniversary Revolutionary War plates in about 13 months. However, the initial costs must be covered by donations, and the state needs a minimum of 500 applications before manufacturing begins.

To receive a plate, drivers would pay a $50 application fee and a $10 annual renewal fee.
After costs associated with implementing the license plate program are deducted, money collected through the fees will be deposited into the 250th Anniversary Revolutionary War License Plate Fund.

They gotta make up the costs first… so NJ will get a lot of it at first.

Also - I’m renewing my plates rn for the wifey’s car - it’s not an option yet on the NJ MVC website

I would not let the state of NJ handle one red cent more of my money than required by law. They’d just spend it on drugs and loose women.

Why is NJ doing this only now? Like maybe they should have thought about this at least a year ago. The America 250 train has already left the station.

In any case, I would not count on the preservation group getting much of the money from the state. And I’m sure the state tacked on conditions to how the group uses the money. I’d just donate directly so the group gets t all.

I agree, it’s a nice concept, embarrassingly late in execution, with little assurance that the historic preservation groups will see any of the money.

Also, those boats should be shown bristling with the privately owned guns the citizenry used to overthrow an oppressive government!

I suspect that most NJ elected officials would have refused to sign the Declaration of Independence had they been around in 1776.

Yeah, i read somewhere they need 500 pre orders before it can happen. Not sure how they get pre orders if its not an option on the site.
