“The new permit-to-purchase application will cost $126 — a $90 permit fee plus a $36 fingerprint-processing fee. Local law enforcement agencies may also charge an additional fee to collect fingerprints. The permit will be valid for five years.”
Hopefully, this state won’t require renewals to the system currently in-place.
was assigned to Ft Lewis in 1984, at that time Washington state was one of the better states in the US. carry permits issued in a week or so, a gazillion places to shoot out on Weyerhaeuser logging land. this happens because 2 cities are dictating what happens.
Yep, this sucks. Certainly for all Washington gun owners, and we’re waiting for the other shoe to drop for Idahoans who want to carry in Washington. And if visiting nearby Spokane, you want to carry…
Idaho is constitutional carry, but you can easily get a carry permit at the DMV, if needed for reciprocity in other states. Except Washington, which doesn’t recognize it. So Idaho came up with an Enhanced Carry Permit, essentially just to make Washington happy. Getting one has similar steps to getting a NJ Carry Permit, although it’s faster and cheaper. One day of combined classroom and live fire required, though there is no defined course of fire or minimum score, just a hundred round count, and total cost is about $160 for course and permit, good for 5 years and renewable by mail for $30 or so. The expectation is that it won’t be long until Washington stops recognizing this permit.
They already classify any handgun with a magwell forward of the trigger guard as an assault firearm, because the government can’t tell the difference between an AR and the high-end (5 round mags, .22 cal) European target pistols the bullseye and international competitors use.
