# My green dot

as usual, i’m probably puttin’ this in the wrong place…but someone’s gonna do it so it may as well be me, right? 😃

anyway…my holosun green dot. i think i just screwed it up. was gonna do some dryfire. window glass was dusty/dirty. used a “lens cleaning” brush, then tried a lens wipe(those ones you can buy at wallyworld for your eyeglasses). got the lens looking clean, but what you see in the picture is what i see when looking through it. in brighter light, it’s not too bad…in low light(like in a room) it’s horrible. is this fixable? or did i just destroy my dot? there are also a couple of visible scratches on the lens that don’t show in this picture. i guess for the most part it would be ok in a self defense scenario…but not really sure. i’d rather not have to change it out…but i might’ve forced it on myself outta shear stupidity. or carelessness. or recklessness. or some combination of those.

it is just needs more cleaning. if any residue is left behind it will F up the dot. make sure the emitter hole is clear if it os open.

I would try a soft damp cloth like you use to clean a I pad and wipe it with a microfiber towel

Maybe skip the wipes, seems like they left some wax or something. I would use high end glass cleaner, from a spray can. Chemical Guys makes one, you can find it at Advance Auto or another auto store. Just spray some on the rag.

I use these a lot for cleaning glass:

sometimes i’m just too dam stupid for my own good, lolol. scorpio nailed it. there wasn’t much residue on the glass…but i had neglected to clean the opening where the thing shines through to the glass. i cleaned that, and whammo! second hand brand new.

i am gonna try the microfiber towels next time.

I use medical grade polyester tipped swabs. they leave almost nothing behind.

I use alcohol wipes for lenses. No residue. Just wipe it clean and let the alcohol evaporate.
