Colt Patterson would be a fine contender. As would the PMC/Iver Johnson M1 Carbines, but those have a sad history among NJ gun owners…

NJ already has a “state rifle” The Richard Wilson, New Jersey contract musket. they were standard for the NJ Militia during the Froggie-Indian wars and then later used by NJ militia to defeat the Brits.
A New Jersey contract musket (a musket in the Brown Bess pattern) is described as a rare contract fusil musket made by Richard Wilson of London. One listing notes it was supplied as military arms for New Jersey during the French and Indian War and later issued to New Jersey loyalist forces at the start of the Revolutionary War.
