The judgment, just signed, is here. Major points: the Audit Committee is “fired” and anyone who served on the Audit Committee between 2014 and 2022 is barred from serving on it, period. The members of that committee will be elected by the entire board. The Nominating Committee must each year nominate 20 additional candidates who had not served as directors prior to 2022. NRA must create an online method for signing petitions for candidates.
Judgment is entered for NRA against LaPierre and Wilson for $4.3 and $2 million, with 9% interest, dating from the jury verdict in February. Significantly, NRA is forbidden to compromise these numbers without court consent.
It’s funny, yanno. It took democrats to free the NRA supporters from WLP. I mean, do they even realize how helpful this was for the organization. AND he does not get to walk away from screwing NRA members unscathed. It would have been nice if the funds WLP mishandled were returned to the NRA. Fat chance.
Maybe now they can focus on reestablishing credibility. know quite a few people who let their NRA membership lapse and some took pleasure when fundraisers would call and gave them what for.
Wow. Maybe there is hope for the future of the NRA after all.
LOL… don’t think that’s going to happen… It’s said that only 5% of gun owners were ever members… I think you know why.
LaPierre should have been shown the door 20 years ago.
A large share of the blame also rests on the shoulders of the Board. They had ample opportunity to reign him in; but did not.
Exactly - the board acquiesced to a lot of the grift.
I want there to be a strong NRA. I want it to be a force in politics again.
However I can’t give money to it until I have confidence the board has been purged of all the “friends of Wayne” and the parasitic Brewer law firm that has siphoned millions away from the NRA has been booted.
Rocky Marshall, another NRA board member and Brewer critic, testified in July that the NRA had paid the Brewer firm over $180 million in legal fees across multiple cases during the past six years. That was the most it paid any outside organization over the same time period.
Crazy when I think of all the RKBA progress that could have been funded from unknowing member’s dues that instead got effectively stolen.
