> Republican lawmakers accused Canadian officials of mismanaging the wildfires. “Michiganders shouldn’t have to breathe Canada’s negligence,” Representative Lisa McClain said in a statement. Senator Bernie Moreno, Republican of Ohio, said he would seek legislation to penalize Canada “for this atrocity.” Canada’s prime minister, Mark Carney, responded during a news conference that “there must be a contribution from the United States in the fight against climate change.”

Canada the third most forested country in the world, following only Russia and Brazil.
It’s also in the middle of nowhere for most of it. No roads, no water.

On a positive note, you can just hang your ribs out in the backyard, and by the end of the day, they’ll have that nice smoky flavor… 🤪

i lived in NJ my entire life (64)except military time, only in the last few years are these fires affecting such a larger swath of the world. never happened in the 60s, 70s 80s 90s 00s, 2010s something obviously changed. my opinion is canada just doesnt care and is no longer funding wildland fires.

definitely not climate change. one factor is the liberalism of forest management, just like animals the forests need to be culled as they can’t manage themselves but the tree hugging kooks fight this especially in countries that are ruled like Canada.
we should just go there and put the fires out and send them the bill.

It seems they are more reactive than proactive with their fire prevention. Like, fire breaks, controlled burns and thinning. I had read their fire fighting budget remains similar year to year and they lack enough personnel to properly maintain an area that large.

Come on now, let’s be fair to Canada… They’ve spent all their money on importing illegals, and giving all types of Socialist programs, money and benefits to the population. They have no money left to fight forest fires…
