I won a set of LAPG ones - they’re not bad. I have ‘em in a PC for the Wifey and in my PC I have Hesco 4400’s.
I do believe the Agilite plates are made by Hesco. I could be wrong though. I believe it’s not NIJ certified because the level 3ST designation is not standard.
I did find a set of Highcom 4SAS7 plates for $519.99 in Large SAPI on the apex armor site.
But as for carrier, at this point the Agilite k-zero SF is the front runner.
That is, if I can convince my conscience that a PC is necessary
This is my pc now I had a Shellback shield tactical pc but it was a waste just sitting in my closet so I got a LA police gear minimalist pc it holds 10x12 plates
For $50 that’s not bad. LAPG JTE Lightweight Low-Profile Laser-Cut MOLLE Plate Carrier - PC-JTE
I have a LAPG Atlas PC - won it at SHOT Show with a set of LAPG Level IV plates and a bunch of other accessories.
Will it accept a Large SAPI Plate? I’m 6’2, 230lbs, a 10x12 plate is small for me, according to all the sizing charts at least.
10x12 inch is the max for the model I have
Looks like it will only accept 10x12. For Large SAPI plates, you’ll need to find a larger sized PC. Quick glance at LAPG shows the Condor PC which has a large size that will fit… Not sure if I like the design though - it’s full cummerbund size etc.
A vest is something I’ve gone back and forth with. Seeing different operators wearing them, and seeing what areas are protected, and what areas aren’t, makes me wonder how much total benefit there is.
A 10 x 12 plate doesn’t cover a whole lot. Yeah, it covers the major organs in the middle, but exposes a bunch above and below. And, you still have the big gaps on each side, that aren’t protected.
So yeah, a 10 x 12 plate will protect a center mass shot, but if you’re moving, turning or changing position, you leave a lot of unprotected areas… and that’s even before considering your head, which is fully exposed… So, the jury is still out for me.
