Sure, the broomhandle was badass in its’ day, but it was a prop broomhandle that was modified into the even more badass blaster used by Han Solo throughout the Star Wars movies.

Further trivia: That same prop broomhandle had previously been used, with the shoulder stock, by Frank Sinatra, playing an assassin in The Naked Runner.
I think Clint Eastwood used one in a movie of his. Can’t remember which one
