Gonna ricochet off the trap…
Not quite silent - you still hear it… probably about the same noise level as with CCI quiet.
What would? A 22? More worried about the crossbows bolt going the wrong direction.
There is a method of euthanasia by asphyxiation. Like, if there was an air tight container large enough to hold the trap, the rodent would eventually just peacefully fall asleep (pass out) from lack of oxygen, and then eventually expire. Less traumatic than drowning, for both the creature and the dispatcher. Just, put 'em to bed.
But quieter than a gunshot.
Versus a ricochet of a bullet?
Never shot CCI quiet out of a 20" barreled Lever action? CCI Quiet is about 68db at the ears… it’s probably about ~80db. My Barnett Hyper Raptor is 110db by the specs.
710 fps versus 410 fps.
Your point? Contrary to popular belief, a Crossbow isn’t silent… I’m also talking about dispatching a Groundhog that was caught in a trap, not trying to snipe one in the open.
So was the OP, and he was concerned about shooting a 22 into the cage. Go back up and READ the thread.
@Sniper @Krdshrk Let’s just agree that you two have your own opinions on the matter at this point, and leave it at that.

Nawh i’m not worried about shooting a 22 into the cage. I was worried about hunting them in the open with a 22, where i may not necessarily be able to ensure a safe backdrop.
Not worried about 22 ricocheting off a piece of wire but that’s where the safe direction thing comes in.
Noise isn’t a concern. Not doing anything illegal, they can call the cops all they want.
Going the trap and MP15-22 route, or maybe the 22 conversion for my glock.
BTW, as a kid, my brother shot an arrow and it bounced off a rock or something and hit me in the ankle. Fortunately, was a kids bow with a training tip. It made a small hole in the soft tissue and came right out without damaging anything important.
So yeah, slightly worried about a bolt bouncin’. Haha
