TRENTON - Senate President Nicholas P. Scutari (D-Union/Somerset) issued the following statement in response to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals’ ruling invalidating New Jersey’s restrictions on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines:
"The Third Circuit Court’s decision to overturn New Jersey’s effective, nation-leading ban on assault rifles and high-capacity magazines is a misguided, calculated attack on public safety and common sense firearm restrictions. Over decades, New Jersey has meticulously balanced constitutional rights with the fundamental right of every person to live safely and freely, enacting gun safety regulations that have helped us achieve one of the lowest gun death rates in the nation. Going back on this progress will only endanger our communities and perpetuate the gun violence epidemic we have worked tirelessly to address.
Any reasonable person understands that weapons of war have no place in a civil society. That is why every other federal circuit court to consider this issue has upheld the law on its merits. No child deserves to be gunned down in a classroom, no grandparent should be targeted while shopping for groceries, and no first responder should have to witness the devastation these weapons inflict on innocent people. Protecting our communities should always take precedence over expanding access to weapons designed for mass killing.

Is it just me, or do other people think that NJ will come up with workarounds to deal with this, even if they ultimately end up being unconstitutional?
They will try everything they can, for as long as they can. These Marxists will never give up.
since it will be hard for them to stop this directly they will start by creating an entire new category of prohibited persons, things that would never even been thought of will start being legislated.
I hope that the SC learned their lesson with these commies when the the Bruen decision came out and make the ruling air tight. I describe this method of leadership at my job as the “cruise ship hallway” of rule writing. picture yourself in the hallway of a 1000 ft cruise ship with every cabin door open, it is your job as a supervisor to close every door so the person you are trying to disipline has no escape. you learn this throughout your career on how to close those doors and hopefully the SC looks into the future and anticipates every move the communists will try, you must not leave one dorrway open.
