10 Baby Boomer habits that make you seem old

Some humor for the day. Raise your hand if any of these fit!

It’s time to call out some habits that need to go bye-bye. Consider looking in the mirror if you do any of the things listed below.

(Note: this article/list was written by a Gen Zer… go figure…)

And keep in mind this is mostly satire. I respect your authority, Boomers.

  1. Phone calls over texting.

  2. Technology Reluctance.

  3. Preference for Paper Documentation

  4. Resistance to Change

  5. Cash Transactions.

  6. Preference for Chain Restaurants.

  7. Writing Checks.

  8. Using Voicemail.

  9. Handwriting a Note.

  10. Using a Phone Book.

Something my mom does that drives me up the wall:

When she got her first iphone, I told her “Hey mom, we can have video chats now with this app called facetime, wanna try it?”

Mom - “No, just regular calling is ok with me”

[a couple years pass, then apparently a friend of hers showed her in person how to face time]

Current day - she only wants to talk over facetime. Like, as in if I call her when I’m driving, she tells me to facetime her later when I get home.

However, during our “facetimes”, she either has her eyes closed for 90% of the call, or she’s holding the phone near her ear so I get a screen full of ear anatomy…

  1. Definitely phone calls over texting. In fact, I prefer hand-written letters over phone calls.
  2. Nope, I love technology.
  3. Nope again, I digitized my military medical records because they were all paper.
  4. Not sure about that one.
  5. Yes, I prefer cash particularly when buying ammo…out of state.
  6. Don’t like chain restaurants.
  7. No, I pay my bills electronically.
  8. Don’t use voicemail.
  9. Already covered.
  10. Don’t remember the last time I saw a phone book.

1- Texting it gets to the point without long drawn out conversations
2- Tech is great
3- Paper requires a filing system and storing it
4- I hate change but I do adapt to it
5- Yes cash is king
6- Nope
7- For property taxes only
8- Yes
9- No
10- No need with tech

I’m definitely guilty of a few of those. :grinning:
